Chapter 5 Essay

The Patriots fought hard taking the colony toward independence. What basic beliefs drove them to do this? Fundamentally, why did they organize and fight the British? Name three reasons and explain each in paragraph form with an introduction, body, and conclusion.

What would the world be like if we were controlled by a king and not a president? Would it be better or worse? What if we were not controlled at all and it was every man for themselves? Would that increase the rate in war? Or do just the opposite? What about land, who would determine who got what? What about money? The world that colonist lived before 1763 could be exactly what America needs today, a sort of "perfect" world.

If you were living in America before the 1763's then it was probably the best time. Everyone was settled in and everything was figured out. The thing is what happed after that. War broke out with the Colonists Vs. The British or better known as the French Indian war. The war happened because the colonies wanted to make themselves bigger. For them to move more into the mountains. The problem was that the land was already claimed by the French and British. This was one very reasonable belief, they wanted to expand themselves. After the seven long years of the war, British ended up getting Canada and having more people to lead.

Having more people to lead also means having more expenses. The expenses lead to many horrible acts, including the stamp act. The stamp act made the colonists buy a stamp for every paper they bought. This was scene as a way to increase the taxes. The colonies wouldn't have it though. They put up a riot and had the Stamp Act canceled but that wasn't the end of it. Many more acts came after the stamp act because the colonists believed that they already had enough taxes. They just wouldn't pay for more, but the British didn't stop there.

After the Tea Act, the British were infuriated. They lost all the money they had to recover and in order to take their anger out, they mistreated colonists. This was called the Intolerable Acts. Before that was The Townshend Acts, The Quartering Acts, and the Boston Massacre. In all the acts the colonists had to do something the British wanted. After a while, they got mad at all the tranny. Tranny is the unjust use of government power. A ruler who uses power in this way is called a tyrant. In this case the Tyrants were all the different governors of Britain, or the Act starters.

There are many reasons why the colonists decided to fight Britain, including to much tax and wanting to expand themselves. But the main reason was that Britain had Tyranny written all over them. They knew they had power and they used it to their advantage. Even though in the end the colonists did end up beating the British, they had to go through some rough times.
